What is the national jamboree?
Every four years, our scout organization hosts a national camp in a different area of Germany. Around 4,000 scouts from all over the country meet on a campsite and build a tent city of Jurten and Kothen (black tents) together for ten days.
What is the VCP?
The Verband Christlicher Pfadfinder*innen (Association of Christian Guides and Scouts) is the German Protestant Scouting and Guiding association. It has about 22,000 coed members.
It is a member of the Ring deutscher Pfadfinder*innenverbände (Federation of German Scouting and Guiding Associations, rdp), which in turn is a member of the World Organization of the Scout Movement (WOSM) and of the World Association of Girl Guides and Girl Scouts (WAGGGS).
How large will the camp be?
We expect around 4,000 scouts. But don’t worry, the camp will be divided into different sub-camps with their own unique identity so you won’t feel lost and there will be plenty to explore.
Where is the camp taking place?
The camp will be adjacent to our campground in Almke close to the famous car-city Wolfsburg, more or less in the middle of Germany. We are sure that we will make good use of the swimming pool next door and hope to organise some day trips for you in case you are interested!
When is the camp taking place?
Day of arrival: 30.07.2026
Day of departure: 08.08.2026
How much is the camp going to cost?
The fee for participants will be around 335 Euros. This will cover everything during the camp including food but does not include travel to and from Germany.
This is the price without any additional funding. Depending on your country of origin, group size and other factors, it is possible to apply for additional subsidies. We will be able to provide more detailed information about this topic later this year.
Who can take part?
Scouts and Guides from any WOSM or WAGGGS organisation member.
What is the group size limit?
There is no hard limit; however, the host group has to be able to accommodate your group. We strive to pair up international and German groups with the same number and age of participants, so around 15 people would be an ideal group size.
What are the age requirements?
Participants should be above the age of 13 during the camp. Group leaders have to be at least 18 years of age. Group members between 18 and 23 can also partake as participants as there are activities aimed at this age group as well.
Individual participants that are above 18 years old can join the International Service Team (IST).
How do we get to the camp?
For international flights, the closest airports are Braunschweig-Wolfsburg, Hamburg, Hannover and Berlin from which you can take a train to Wolfsburg main station. From there, a shuttle to the campground will likely be provided. We happily help with planning your trip from and to Germany!
What are the visa and entry requirements?
Be sure to check with the relevant authorities and consulates of your home country, which visas are necessary to enter Germany and the Schengen area. We advise that you take care of the visas as soon as possible after committing to participating as wait times can be long. In some cases, we are able to issue letters of invitations that are required for some countries, please contact us for that as soon as possible.
Where will I find information about the camp?
The website will be updated periodically in German and English and after filling out the pre-registration form, the international team will be in contact with you regularly.
Will the activities be translated into English?
We strive to make as much of the camp accessible to our international guests as possible. All central camp activities will be translated into English including the opening and closing ceremony. The subcamps are responsible for translating their activities but we will work closely with the subcamps to ensure everyone can feel included. As you will be together with your host group for the duration of the camp, you should be able to attend most of the activities together.
What level of German is required to participate? What level of English is required?
At least one person in your group is required to speak English on a good level to ensure proper communication before and during the camp. Of course, it will be helpful if more people can help with translating from English to your language during the camp. No German is required for participating in the camp; however, it will be the main camp language.
Will I get a badge?
Yes, every participant will get a camp badge.
When is the deadline for signing up?
The pre-registration is open from now until the end of November. By the end of the year, we will pair up international and German groups. In January and February 2026, the binding registration will happen via your host group.
What if we don’t have a partner group before the camp?
We will try to pair up every international group with a German host group before the end of the pre-registration period, the latest December 2025. In case we are unable to find a partner group by then, you may not be able to register and attend the camp.
What if I can’t attend after registering?
Depending on when you cancel your registration, we will be able to refund a portion of the camp price. Detailed information will follow.
Do I need to bring my own tent?
No, tents will be provided by the host group (unless you agree otherwise). You will only require personal items like sleeping bags and mats, clothes, cutlery etc. We will provide you with a list of equipment before the camp starts.
What will the sanitation facilities at the camp be like?
There will be portable lavatories, sinks with running water and gender-separated shower tents.
What are the medical requirements?
Every participant will be required to fill out a medical questionnaire, so we can provide relevant information to paramedics and doctors should the need arise. If you have any medical requirements, please contact us, so we can discuss whether we can accommodate them.
What are the Safe from Harm provisions and what are the requirements for international groups?
Every group leader will be required to take part in a course regarding this subject. This course will probably be held on the first day of camp itself in English. As we regard this as a very important topic, especially as scouting involves working directly with children, attendance will be mandatory regardless of previous experience or qualifications.
During the camp itself, qualified staff will be available 24/7 for any affected person.
What happens in the case of emergency?
The camp has its own central hospital with on-call doctors and nurses providing help and first aid in case of small injuries or problems. They work closely with the local hospitals in the case of more severe injuries or illnesses. We also have a central security and firefighting team.
We are quite proud of our preparations; just a few years ago, our national jamboree had to be evacuated due to a storm and our swift action has been used as best-case study for emergency services.
What documents are required before attending camp?
As mentioned, every participant will be required to fill out a medical questionnaire provided by us. In addition, we require a copy of your visa, if applicable, proof of health insurance and a letter of endorsement from your countries’ national scout organization. Further documents may be required by request.
Do we need insurance?
Every participant will need proof of health insurance (this should be included in your normal health insurance if you are from EU member state).
We strongly advise you take up travel cancellation and liability insurance. Anything else is up to your discretion.
What if someone in my group has special diet restrictions?
This will have to be communicated to your host group as you will be preparing your food together. We should be able to accommodate most dietary restrictions.
Will I be able to share anything from my country (food, songs, activities)?
There will be a camp-wide “international evening“, where you will be able to share games, songs or customs from your country. However, the whole point of inviting you as our internationals guest is for us to share our way of life with one another so of course sharing will not just be confined to this one evening. We also would like to work with you to offer workshops during the program and help you to share food with your host group. Any other ideas are also welcome!
