International Service Team

In 2026, we want to welcome around 30 IST volunteers as part of our staff! Together, you will run workshops, lead activities and help organise daily camp life. While the main camp goes on for ten days, as an IST volunteer you will join us for two weeks:

  • two to three days of pre-camp (28.07. – 30.07.2026), where we will get to know each other and help in the preparations,
  • ten days national jamboree (30.07. – 08.08.2026), including the international evening and
  • one day of after-camp (08.08. – 09.08.2026) with a fete you do not want to miss!

You might have heard that in Germany has its own flavour: black cotton tents, versatile campfire songs and a strong focus on youth leadership. Joining the IST is your chance to dive into this unique culture and contribute your energy and Scouting experience!

Being an IST

Camp Life

As part of the IST, you will live in our camp unit together with all other IST members. Inside this unit, daily camp routines (such as cooking, cleaning the dishes and food collection) are organised collectively. There will be shared sleeping tents, so called yurts („Jurten” in German) and kotas (“Kohten” in German). If you wish for gender-separated sleeping, you can state so in your application (no problem with that, we just need to know). Our vision is to show you the world of German scouting, but we hope that you are willing to share some of your scouting traditions during the camp as well!

During the day, there will be three shifts of which you will be assigned two each: morning, afternoon and evening. Each IST volunteer has one free day during the camp and there will be free afternoons and mornings as well. One day is reserved for a collective trip – maybe to the Harz mountains or to Hanover, that is not fixed yet.

Roles and expectations

We expect you to be motivated, hands-on, curious, collaborative, willing to learn and teach – in three words: a true scout. The main IST tasks will be running workshops and supporting the programme, especially with regard to our international guest groups. However, we want to allow you to work according to your talents and motivations, so state the area in which you want to help, and we will see what can be done. For all IST volunteers there will be opportunities to try out new jobs for one shift every couple of days.

Application Process

Up until 1st January 2026, pre-registration is open. You can pre-register yourself using the same link as international groups. Registration will be open from January to March. If you preregistered, we will notify you.

To apply as an IST volunteer, you need to

  • be a member of WOSM / WAGGGS,
  • provide a letter of recommendation from your home association,
  • fill out the registration form and
  • sign a code of conduct regarding Safeguarding. This will be provided together with the registration form.

During registration you can name the areas in which you would prefer to work during the camp. We will try our best to make these wishes come true!  Please note that in case the number of IST applicants exceeds our expectations, we might have to decline some applications. If the participation fee is too high for you, please feel free to contact us and we will find a solution.

In January, there will be a Q&A video call for all interested scouts. The link will be published here, on our social media (@vcp_de and @bula_vcp) and send to all those who have pre-registered via e-mail.
